Dream Share is a participatory audio artwork by Jussi Brightmore that captures, combines and extends the dream experiences of Dream Palace participants. Participants are invited to record descriptions of their dreams, which are combined to form an immersive audio montage and musical performance. Throughout the festival, the work evolves and is developed through a series of hypnagogic dream workshops. The results of these numerous communal dreaming experiences will be presented in a final music performance.

Asklepios Incubation

Sarah Janes will lead an Asklepios themed dream incubation or ‘enkoimesis’ practice within the sacred precinct of Asklepios on the southern Slope of the Acropolis. This temple was once a site of pilgrimage for those seeking healing and dream visitations. The demi-god Asklepios was the son of Apollo - solar god of healing and harmony. His symbol - the Rod of Asklepios (a serpent entwined around a staff) is the sign of physicians to this day. Asklepion Sanctuaries were famed across the ancient Hellenic world as holistic healing centres that employed a full spectrum of approaches to healing mind, body and spirit. Healing was often strengthened by divine dreams and rapturous dream encounters with the gods and goddesses of dreams.  themysteries.org

French-italian duo, whirlwind combination of spacio-tribal drums and bewitched electronics.
Imagine if you will, a Silver Apples club-cut for Rephlex, or Black Pus jamming with Yamatsuka Eye_. H&O face each other, they synchronize waves and gusts to invoke the spirits of the woods and the ancient gods. Like troubadours from outer space, they unleash impro-ritualistic music for trance-like FX and reverse glicht dance moves.

It sounds like you’ve crept up on a long-lost village in the valleys, peering over from behind the trees at night, staring at a huge flaming fire with the villagers in circles, everyone possessed by the incantatory power of the moon and fire.

Karin Valis
Machine Dreaming: Enhancing Dream Recall and Analysis through Generative Algorithms.

In this session, we skim through many areas where generative algorithms might enhance our dreaming experience. First, we briefly look at the neurological background of dreaming and point out a few possible parallels with deep learning models. Then we look into practical aspects such as how to prompt dreams using AI, fine-tune your own "Dream Model," and create customized dream symbols and themes. We'll analyze dream journaling experiments involving GPT for dream interpretation and generation, as well as its potential role in aiding dream recall. Finally, we'll contemplate the future possibilities, such as "Dream Reading" using EEG and Diffuser Models, personalized dream models based on our surroundings and memories, and non-linear exploration of our latent dream spaces.

Tree Carr
Death & Dreaming: Liminal Thresholds, Myth & The Psychopomp

Tree Carr's captivating lecture on "Death & Dreaming" transcends the boundaries of time and culture, delving into ancient traditions from around the world that explore practices of liminal thresholds in preparation for the inevitable journey into the afterlife.
Drawing from the rich tapestry of global belief systems, Tree Carr illuminates the Egyptian Book of the Dead, where the soul's passage through the treacherous realms of the afterlife is meticulously documented.

Carr discusses how these ancient Egyptians believe that dreams are a portal to the spirit world, akin to the liminal space between life and death. The lecture also ventures into Tibetan Buddhism, where the Bardo Thodol, or "Tibetan Book of the Dead," guides the deceased through the intermediate state between death and rebirth.

Tree Carr artfully connects this concept to the idea that dreams might serve as rehearsals for this profound transition, with the dreamer as the protagonist of their own psychopomp myth.
Exploring further, Carr delves into the Greco-Roman traditions, shedding light on the mythological figure of Hermes/Mercury, the psychopomp who guides souls to the underworld.  She correlates these myths with the dream state, where the dreamer often finds themselves in a transitional, surreal realm not unlike the journey to the afterlife.

In her lecture, Tree Carr masterfully weaves together these ancient traditions, demonstrating the remarkable parallels between the psychopomp myth and the dream state. Her insights challenge attendees to consider whether our nightly dreams might indeed be a form of spiritual preparation for the ultimate liminal threshold we will all one day cross.

Iasos
IASOS Maui, Hawai’i
The legendary Iasos has been making exquisite, otherworldly soundscapes since the early seventies. He released his first sublime album Inter-Dimensional Music in 1975. A college student studying cultural anthropology at the time, Iasos described feeling compelled to capture the exquisite music he was hearing in his head, he called it Paradise Music.

Adored by New Age aficionados as much as analogue synth nerds, Iasos’s music transcends categorisation. Born in Greece but raised in New York and a hugely influential figure on the New Age scene in California. Iasos now lives in Maui. This will be Iasos’s first ever concert in his home country, and it is a huge honour for us to host him.

Tea and Tarot

Tree Carr and Jonah Emerson-Bell will hold a 2-hour drop-in gathering where they discuss how the Tarot and divination can be used as a means to unpack and interpret dreams. Participants are encouraged to share their insights and reflections as the group uses the Tarot as a tool for wayfinding through the dreamscape.

This is intended to be a casual group discussion that people can drop in on. Ideally, we would do this event as a tea time and the group can share tea and talk about dreams and divination.

Raz Ullah
Delia’s Dreamz

Delia’s Dreamz is an audio-visual homage to BBC Radiophonic Workshop associate and electronic music pioneer Delia Derbyshire’s 1964 collaboration with playwright Barry Bermange to create musical dramas based around the ideas of dreams. Derbyshire built up layers of musique concrete and early synth experimentation around interview fragments of people recounting their dreams to create a multifaceted drone work that remains a classic of radio technique. This new work by Sound Artist Raz Ullah features AI speech synthesis, analogue video feedback and an original musical score composed on modular synthesizer to create an impressionistic and wandering ‘cover version’ of the original.
